The Future of the Audios: 2010-Present
After 2010, real life got in the way too much to continue to regularly update this site, and so the reluctant decision was made to reach a "cut off" point and stop updating on new merchandise.
After the BBC Radio 7 series (reviewed here), B7 Productions went on to release eight stories onto CD, the first of which - When Vila Met Gan - was also reviewed here. The reviews on this section of the site do seem unusually harsh, and were perhaps inspired by various events that left something of a bad taste in the mouth, from Paul Darrow leaving the company in 2004 under less-than-harmonious circumstances ("I have fallen foul of modern business practice, which seems to prefer exploitation of a 'brand'.") to attending a convention where the makers appeared and didn't really win over the audience.
At one point the Anorak Zone's guide to Blake's 7 was listed on their site as their personal favourite fan site, which was gratifying and appreciated... but can't quite gloss over the stress and upset caused by them earlier sending emails threatening to take legal action unless I gave them some of my content, including over half of the games. I haven't mentioned this before on the site, apart from some jokey allusions, as, well.... I didn't want to get sued. But c.2003 was a very stressful time for the site, and, while it perhaps didn't unduly influence my reviews of their product (their audios were pretty awful) I would normally have worded the reviews a little more.... tactfully.
In 2012 Big Finish Productions took over, making 37 "enhanced audiobooks", with one or two cast members from 2012-2016. From 2013 to the present date they went even further, creating over 40 full cast dramas, with the surviving cast members (including Darrow) contributing. As stated, this site had to make a decision to stop reviewing these new audios for the purposes of time restraints, so can't offer a suggestion as to how good these audios are, though the inclusion of original cast members, including Steven Pacey, is impressive.
